The purpose of this road and sidewalk reconstruction project is to improve the pavement structure, improve the stormwater drainage system, improve parking, and increase pedestrian accessibility and connectivity with ADA compliance within the project limits. The purpose is also to improve the traffic signal at the intersection of St Clair St and Washington Avenue to current design standards.
Construction will require a two-phase closure of WashingtonAve. The first phase will require the closure of the WashingtonAve and St. Clair St intersection. St. Clair St traffic will be redirected along a detour route utilizing 13th St, Hart St, andNorth 6th St. Meanwhile, Washington Ave traffic will be redirected along a detour route utilizing College Ave, North 6th St, and State St. The second phase will require the closure ofWashington Ave from east of the Washington and St. Clair St intersection to Emison Ave. Washington Ave traffic will be redirected along a detour route utilizing St. Clair St, North 6th St, and Niblack Blvd. During all phases, pedestrian traffic will be maintained within the project area by the contractor. Access to all properties will be maintained during construction.
Permanent and temporary right-of-way (ROW) is anticipated
in order to construct the proposed project improvements, currently estimated at 0.45 acres of permanent ROW and 0.004 acres of temporary ROW.
