Fitness & Recreation

Walking

Whether you are going on a nice friendly stroll or wanting to get in shape, there are multiple opportunities in the Vincennes Parks.

Gregg Park offers two different paths to choose from. You can choose to walk along the road inside the park or on the Vaughn Walking Trail. The Vaughn Trail was completely resurfaced in 2016 and is a great place to walk! Signage posted gives distances.

You may want to try the Tecumseh Walking Trail which connects Gregg Park and Chicago Park. The trail can be accessed at either location.

Or take a stroll down our Historic Riverwalk along the Wabash and enjoy the scenic views!

Outdoor Fitness Equipment

If you’re looking for more of a workout head over to Lester Square Fitness Park and workout in while enjoying the fresh outdoors.

There are 8 separate pieces that will provide a full body workout. They are easy to use and suggested for ages 13 and older. Each piece contains a QR code to scan for a short 30-second instructional video shows you how to properly use the machine!

We want to thank all the many sponsors who made this fitness park a reality!!!

Horseshoes

Come out to Gregg Park and play a round of horseshoes or if you’re looking for a little more you can join a league.  Go to the Vincennes Horseshoe League Facebook page for all the details!

Pickleball Courts

Pickleball has exploded in popularity in recent years, becoming one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States. Blending elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, the game is easy to learn, accessible to all ages, and played on smaller courts—making it perfect for both casual players and competitive athletes.

Vincennes Park & Recreation department, partnering with the local Pickleball Club, has responded to the rising demand by installing courts at both Gregg Park and Chicago Park.

Rainbow Beach

Aquatic Center

The Rainbow Beach Family Aquatic Center, nestled within historic Gregg Park at 2204 Washington Ave., Vincennes, IN, is a beloved summertime destination offering family-friendly water fun.

Originally built in 1937 as a WPA project to improve public safety and morale, Rainbow Beach became Indiana’s largest and oldest public pool. The name and iconic features stemmed from its famous light-and-water “rainbow” tower and sandy entry. In the 1970s and again in 2014, it underwent major renovations—replacing sand with lap lanes, adding new pools, slides, splash pads, and modern amenities—funded through community bonds and grassroots support.

Rainbow Beach is open seasonally from Memorial Day weekend until the first weekend of August.
