The City Inspector’s Office enforces the Vincennes City Code of Ordinances. If you have a complaint about an address inside the Vincennes City limits such as tall grass, weeds, trash, junk and debris, please contact our office by phone or email. All complaints are confidential and will be addressed as soon as possible.
Upon receipt of a complaint, a code enforcement officer will be sent to validate the issue. We then send a certified letter to the property owner of record citing the violation. The property owner then has an allotted amount of time to correct the issue.

If for some reason you are unable to correct the violation within the time allotted, please contact our office, as we understand that sometimes “things happen” We are more than willing to work out a reasonable compromise with you. Rental fees are due by the 1st of February each year. The rental fee is $5.00 per roof/property. A late charge of $100.00 per day per unit will be charged for late payments.
We have sent an updated information sheet to update our records please fill out this sheet and return it with your rental fees. If you no longer own rentals and receive a form please fill out the form explaining why they are no longer rentals and return it to our office.
The rental officer Tracy Arnold will contact landlords when it is time for rental inspection on your units. Landlord or tenant may request an additional inspection at any time at no extra charge. Renewal of Electrical licenses are due the beginning of each year. You may come by our office or mail your payment to 205 Vigo Street, Vincennes, Indiana 47591.

The Historic Review Board meets the first Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. To get on the agenda for a meeting you must pick up an application at the Vincennes City Inspector’s Office or download it here. Fill out the application and turn it into the City Inspector’s Office and pay the $50.00 fee. Applications must be turned in by the Thursday before the meeting by 4:00 p.m.
The Board of Zoning Appeals meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. Applications for BZA may be downloaded at the link below or picked up at the City Inspector’s Office. The filing fee for BZA is $50.00 due when you drop off your application. Applications must be in the Inspector’s Office 10 business days before the meeting.
