Complaints

The City Inspector’s Office enforces the Vincennes City Code of Ordinances. If you have a complaint about an address inside the Vincennes City limits such as tall grass, weeds, trash, junk and debris, please contact our office by phone or email. All complaints are confidential and will be addressed as soon as possible.

Upon receipt of a complaint, a code enforcement officer will be sent to validate the issue. We then send a certified letter to the property owner of record citing the violation. The property owner then has an allotted amount of time to correct the issue.

All the City of Vincennes ordinances can be found at the American Legal or by contacting our office. If you have received a letter of violation and need more information, feel free to contact our office.

Deadlines for our most common violations

Garbage or trash left out – 3 Days
Grass and weeds over 6 inches – 5 Days
Junk and debris – 10 Days

If for some reason you are unable to correct the violation within the time allotted, please contact our office, as we understand that sometimes “things happen” We are more than willing to work out a reasonable compromise with you.
